# Projects

A project is anything you want to track time against — a simple work attendance tracker, a full architecture project, or anything in between.

Projects can be subdivided into tasks, so time lands under the right piece of work. They can also carry a billing rate and a weekly goal (say, 5 hours a week), so *Swipetimes* can tell you how you're tracking against it. That rate and your tracked time are exactly what feed into creating [invoices]({{< relref "invoices.md" >}}).

To keep things organized, projects are grouped into [profiles]({{< relref "profiles.md" >}}): put all your work projects in one profile and your private projects in another, and switch between them without one cluttering the other.
